Default Multisite.... you really have to re-setup the widget & simple sidebars?

On the "subsite"... it looks like I have to re-setup the entire widget area and saw that the Genesis simple sidebars are missing as well.

The "mother" looks good after getting it converted to Multisite... its just that the 1st subsite is having to have its entire widget area re-setup... and now it looks like the simple sidebars too.

Really is this how it's supposed to work? I thought multisite would make life much easier... and all this get copied over into it

Feedback please?

Thanks,
CK

No, nothing gets copied by default. Each new subsite is like a new install of WP.

Go activate the plugins you want. Re-setup the themes.

Okay... and then is there a way to export/import in the Genesis simple sidebars? Will simple sidebars work in a Multisite arrangement? Or do I have to re-setup those again too?

Multisite is more work than I thought.

Thanks!!!

Yes, multisite is a more advanced feature and setup.

All our plugins works in multisite - we do development work in a multisite setup and the demo site is a multisite installation.

Simple Sidebars does not have an import/export feature.

How many subsites do you have to set up?

There are plugins that can help with this, but they only copy the subsite to a new subsite - nto the main site. So you can use the Replicator after you set up one subsite all over again, and then copy that subsite to the rest.

Okay that is great to know. I will resetup the Simple Sidebars then, thanks for clarifying that. The subsites eventually may get up to 50. There will be at least 5 right away. So copying one subsite to another would be PERFECT. I will take a look then at that Replicator.

Thanks!
