Default comments not turning off

I used the instructions at http://www.studiopress.com/support/v...15580&start=0& to turn a specific category into a menu nav button. I successfully did that at http://channelyourhigherself.com/launch -- see the Resources/Reader’s Channels & Stories link on the main nav, but I don't want to show comments on every post. I have comments unchecked on both posts currently showing at http://channelyourhigherself.com/launch/?page_id=57 (the page the main navigation links to), and Leave a Comment is still showing in every view of the posts.

It seems as if the Comments not being off happened around the time I made that change, but maybe it relates to some other setting?

NOTE: Site is under development -- not live yet.

That is a link coded into archives.php. page_blog.php and index.php. You will need to remove this:

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try this, but I do want to still allow comments on other select postings. This won't disable comments altogether, will it?

No, it won't, you would do that through your WordPress Settings.

You say:

Removing the code from index.php will NOT allow any comments.

You can turn on/off comments for each individual post in the Post Editor.

I tried deleting the strip of codefrom the various files in the editor, but doing that disabled all the comments for all posts. I don't want that to happen. I want to be selective about what posts allow comments and what posts don't.

I am aware of the checkbox at the bottom of each post/page editor view.

The problem is that checking or unchecking the box does nothing for me. The comments are just always on. And this is even on posts that don't have comments yet.
