Default Stretch Top Menu Items

Is it possible to automatically stretch the top menu items so they fill up the entire top menu bar?

So, for instance, if the top bar is 960px wide, then with 6 items, each item would have a width of 160px, but with 10 items, each item would resize to 96px.

That way menu items would be spaced evenly across the top instead of to the left (default position).
