Legacy Theme Problems

Hello, I bought the Legacy theme today and I have had bunch of problems getting the widget areas to work, especially for the home page. No matter what I seem to do, I can't get them to work/show up, even though they show up in the widget area. Also, I can't get the slider background to show up either. Does anyone have any suggestions?
