Templates for posts

i asked this question in a different thread (but in the interest of not getting buried)

is there a way to have custom Post templates similar to the way it is done with pages (which works very well) -- i have posts which under a certain category require a custom footer (brought to by / disclaimer type stuff) and would be beneficial to have the same capabilities
