Many blog posts warn to stay away from MailChimp for your email newsletter if you plan on including affiliate links in messages. They all seem to recommend AWeber since this limitation does not exist, but what is the real story?
MailChimp in their terms says you cannot be an Affiliate Marketer, among other more dubious and potentially illegal practices. See Part f: http://mailchimp.com/legal/terms/ However affiliate links are so common these days, whether it is a link to a recommended book, a related partner offer, or within a blog post to refer customers to a useful source for technology or services. Is it true that MailChimp will cancel your account without warning if you engage in ANY affiliate marketing or only if that is all you do on your site? I'm also worried that if I hook up my Wordpress RSS feed to a MailChimp email newsletter (they seem to automate that for you) and include an affiliate link in a post, I'll cause unwanted trouble. Anyone know the truth as the MailChimp website is quiet on the subject and I haven't found anything else online. I don't want to select the wrong email newsletter provider if in the future I want to include an affiliate link from time to time. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experience. -Scott |
