Make the Header Invisible?

Hi Colleagues,
I wanted to get your opinions on this. I have a design I'm working on that has no header. Obviously, I can simply kill the header with a one-line function command.

But I'm thinking that I could just vanish the header by pulling it off the page, and that leaves the big H1 Site Name and the Description in the HTML for our SEO friends. I do have a nice logo in the sidebar that links to Home and has an Alt tag on the image for the site title, and the description under that, so maybe the header would be redundant, and thus spammy.

What do you recommend?
