Unable to upload an image

I have a site that the image uploader/browser doesn't work. After clicking on the image to upload, it takes me right
back to the browser uploader.

Anyone familiar with this problem?

After trying the Flash uploader, I got this message:
Unable to create directory /wp-content/uploads/2009/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I am able to upload a photo using the Insight plugin.
Anyone?
