I'm setting up a search results page for a client, but when I test it for a search term that yields no results, I get no message. Here's my code (which I haven't touched except to change the wording of the message)
Code:
<?php _e('Sorry, nothing matched your search criteria.'); ?></p><?php endif; ?>
<?php posts_nav_link(' — ', __('« Previous Page'), __('Next Page »')); ?></p>
