Adding a new page template

Hi,

I want to use another side bar on the default page. I set up the side bar and it shows up in the widgets and I created a page2. however I don't see how to get my page2, that contains sidebar 2, to show up on the drop down list for templates. Do I have to register a template, like you register a sidebar?
