Can You Select More Than One Category for the Left Sidebar

Can you select more than one category to display in the left sidebar of this theme? If you can't do it from the settings is there an easy hard code change you can make to achieve this?

I need to know the answer to this question before trying to use this theme on my blog instead of Lifestyle. I like the look of the education theme but need to display more than one category in the left sidebar.

I am referring to the area directly below the featured content gallery in the Education theme where the list of article posts is displayed in the demo for this theme.

This is the blog where I would like to use this theme instead of Lifestyle.
