Home Left Top causing slow page

This is rather strange as it doesn't happen on the other sites I am working on with the same template.

This home page is very slow to open, it will display the header and menus fine, but then hits a hiccup before loading the rest of the page. First, I tried removing the widgets, no improvement.

Next, I removed the Home Featured Top Left from the template, and it loaded perfectly without that. Put it back and it slows down.

I then tried displaying different categories, it improved slightly but still was not as fast as my other sites and not fast enough for me either.

I checked that all the thumbnails were calling the smaller 150x150 size, which they are.

Any thoughts?
