Error message in new Lifestyle theme

I have the following error message from Studio Press within the dashboard of my recently updated Lifestyle theme:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function esc_url() in /home/dietandf/public_html/wp-content/themes/lifestyle_40/functions.php on line 77

I've not accessed the /functions.php file and am at a loss as to what I am supposed to do.
