Default Genesis theme without child theme or clone child look

Hi I like the look of the Genisis theme as it is mainly as the text formats nicer and is not so small as in Amped but the daft thing is there is absolutely no way to add a logo without using a child theme.

Iv taken my logo from Amped and put it in Genesis image location and still no show.
I went to edit header and there is a message ...

WARNING: This file is part of the core Genesis framework. DO NOT edit
this file under any circumstances. Please do all modifications
in the form of a child theme.

I realize this is so when WP updates you do not loose the settings but honestly without a child them the text looks so much nicer and readable ... colors are nice ... perhaps you could include a standard child them that does the same. i.e keeps font the same and give s the ability to edit the header ..
