Creating Thumbnails in the category section + Automate text

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to automate the size of the pictures that is displayed in the category section wordpress. I think it looks kind of messy when they are different sizes. I would also like to automate the amount of text instead of using the more tag. So I want to try and achieve the same size pictures and same amount of text in all my category's.

I stumbled accross this site which does exactly that. same amount of text and same size picture.

If you compare this with my site I just think it looks smarter. I noticed on another of my sites (running on streamline) it automates the amount of text on the homepage. How can I put do this on my category's section?
