query_args options for custom fields

Hello,

I am looking for assistance with custom fields, I am using the following with no luck:

query_args cat=9&content_limit=500

I have tried various args, but cannot find one that works, nor a list of available options. I have tried grid_content_limit and featured_content_limit with no luck.

I am trying to have one blog template page pull no-content limit (show all) and the other template show only 1st 500 chars.
