Help Using Fonts on the Googleapis.com

Can someone give me some simple steps on how to use the fonts.googleapis.com? I see others using really cool fonts. I can get the code in font-family - however, I guess I need to put the fonts or feed the fonts from a location such as this "fonts.googleapis.com." I looked at this - https://developers.google.com/webfon...etting_started, but it only confused me more. Thank you for you help.
