fatal error uploading theme

I have just established my wordpress blog and opened it then tried uploading my Eleven40 child theme which I had downloaded to my hard drive. Unfortunately I got the fatal error response clientdata/apache-www/w/a/warnickwriting.com.au/www/wp-content/themes/eleven40/functions.php on line 3 I can't get past this error which stays on screen and has now seemingly locked me out of wordpress Appreciate help
