Responding to a question in the forum...

Hi, I'm fairly new here, but am really enjoying this support forum, and have a question...

If a user asks a question in a forum, can another member respond with the answer, or does the response have to come from a moderator or administrator?

I saw a question this morning in a forum which didn't have an answer, and I knew the answer, but didn't want to respond, because I'm not an expert (this was a genesis simple edit function question, rather than a coding quesiton...) - I knew a moderator or administrator would soon respond, but was just curious...
