Default Don't understand the sales copy

I'm asking about all of the child themes in the package, as presented in the "shop for themes" page for the StudioPress site.

Specifically, on Friday, Sonia suggested that I move my site to a "theme optimized for images, like ________" (can't remember; Agency was suggested by someone else and I thought Sonia used a different name).

But: when I asked what made this true for Decor

I learned it was a plug-in.

Isn't all creative image management controlled by image plugins? If so, what then makes StudioPress child themes any better for images than Headway or Thesis? (Leaving aside some of the other reasons not to use those two themes.)

I'm trying to understand this... I get the general value of themes and child themes. It's simply very difficult for me to look at the various theme demos and distinguish between them, when I see the completely different customizations possible on the Showcase page. The salesy, promo copy on the main shopping page doesn't tell me enough. It's not clear why there's not more explicit feature & functionality listings.

Guidance?

thx
