Suitable hosting response time

Hi

I hope I have this in the right forum!

I am going through the process of optimising one of our sites www.extrafriends.co.uk and my question is, what kind of wait time is acceptable for VPS hosting?

At the moment I seem to be getting c.2.3s on my UK server when tested from Holland.
