help with 468x60 ad block homepage

hello, instead of an ad I'm am trying to put an embedded video there, and whenever I put the code in the block and hit save settings, it seems to crash the site. when I click on save settings, it resets all the settings to nothing. Yesterday it would do that once in a while, but today it is also crashing the settings. Also, is it possible to split that section into 2 columns, for example maybe embed a table there that has a video in one column and some text or a widget (like recent posts) in the toher column in that area (where the 468x60 adblock homepage normally goes)? thanks so much.
