Genesis With NON Child Theme??

Hi guys,

If I installed the genesis framework with a standard wordpress theme, would it work and would there be any benefit out of it???

Tutorials say Genesis is like the car and the child theme is the paintwork and if that is true any theme should work not just a child theme?
