Default Why can't you pinch zoom on new mobile sites?

Hi,

Hoping someone might be able to shed some light on a growing trend I've noticed.

I like the fact that you can zoom in and out of a webpage via an IOS device by a simple pinch. All studiopress responsive sites still allow this feature. But more and more developers seem to disable this feature as can be seen in the Megalithe 1.0 Child Theme recently promoted by Studiopress.

My guess is that setting widths to display 90% of the browser may allow for more design control and might be what is preventing the easy zoom in functionality, but I'm not 100% sure.

Is this a feature we will see more and more often in mobile devices? And what are the benefits of disabling the pinch feature?

Thanks for any responses, I tried putting this into the new forums but I cant log in.
