how to make 'Property Listing' the default post template?

Default how to make 'Property Listing' the default post template?
By default, a new post uses the "Blog Post" template, with the option to change it to "Property Listing" with the 'Single Post Template' drop-down.

I'd rather have the behavior reversed - where a new post automatically uses "Property Listing". The reason is, I'm doing all my listing posts via the metaweblog API, and I can't find a way to change a post's template that way. But the automation is defeated if I have to manually go in and change each new post from "Blog Post" to "Property Listing" after it's posted.

Any ideas on how to do this?
