Remove 468x60 banner/ad

How can i remove (in its entirety) the teal box where the banner should be. The site i am working on will have NO ads, and I am looking to extend the title into that space, however, i cant seem to remove the box from the banner.

I tried looking in the header file, and managed to mess up several other things, but not remove this box.
