Adding video in place of featured content gallery area

Hi,

I have been trying to think of a way of adding a video to the main homepage area of my lifestyle theme without luck as the featured content gallery is there, so I was wondering 2 things:

1. Is there any way of adding a video to the featured content gallery section instead of a rotating image?

2. Does anybody know how I can replace the featured content gallery section with the tabs that were in the old "city" theme, which I believe was the foundation for the lifestyle theme?

Any help would be appreciated.
