Permalinks

Hi,

I've set up a new blog but I did not alter the permalink settings until I had a few posts up. The default permalink structure is: /?p=#

I want to change the permalink setting to: /%postname%.html or /%postname%.htm

But once I change the existing setting then the link to the existing posts breaks. I've tried deleting an existing post and then re-posting from scratch but the new permalink still breaks. I do put each post into two categories because I always want my most current videos to show in the featured area - as they are added to the site - but to also be found easily later on by their appropriate themed category.

Any suggestions will help. I'll continue to research but stuck at the moment.
