Default new customer question

Question for this theme, http://www.studiopress.com/demo/blackcanvas.html

For the main front page photos and the thumbnails at the bottom, can I simply crop my pictures for the width and the template will adjust the height.

For example, I will crop my pics (taken with a Canon 5D II) at 500pixel in width and I need re-confirmation how the theme will handle the height. I am ok if the the page scroll down to adjust for the height of the main pics and the thumbnails.

Thanks.

PS: I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum. I don't have permission to post every else here and I was told via e-mail by Craig Tuller to post my pre-sale questions via this method. I previously asked the same question via your site contact information.
