WORDPRESS TRAINING

Hi Guys,

I had someone working on my sites but want to learn wordpress myself, I have a general understanding of how to post blogs, install widgets etc but I need more background stuff, like how to set up the sites and I the main thing I don't understand which is probably quite simple is how the FTP files work and how they relate to the sites visual appearance and why you need FTP to upload files etc. All the training courses I see go straight into blogs etc but I want to learn the background stuff so I know why i am doing stuff etc - if this makes sense.

Anyone know any good books that give you the backgound on this and FTP or DVDS - DVDS online videos would be better - I get confused when setting up sites and if everything doesnt go to plan have no idea why sites are not working etc. the wordpress site also doesnt explain in this sort of depth just front page stuff.

I don't want to become an expert but just to know why I am doing things and how they relate to each other.
