Default How to Display Auto-Thumbnails On Your Homepage...+V

Video Tutorial

Text Tutorial

If you want to utilize the auto-thumbnail feature, which will automatically create thumbnails that will display on your homepage, follow the instructions below.

Step #1
Go to Appearance > Streamline Theme Options in your WordPress dashboard and enter the width and height that you want your thumbnails to display as. Here's a screenshot of that option:

Step #2
After you upload the image in the post through the Upload/Insert image option, copy the image url that is given. Here's a screenshot of what that looks like:

Step #3
Scroll down and find the custom fields section of your write post page, and then create a custom field using thumb as the Name, and then paste the url of your image in the Value box. Make sure you click the Add Custom field button when you are done. Here's a screenshot of what that looks like:

Step #4
Publish your post, and then your thumbnail will show up on the homepage in the size that you have specified.

Notes
If you are having issues with the thumbnail showing on your homepage, follow these steps:

1. If you have entered the full url of your image in the custom field "value" box like this:

Code:
http://www.studiopress.com/demo/education/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/education_2.png
Try removing the blog url from it and see if that helps:

Code:
wp-content/uploads/2009/05/education_2.png
2. Make sure you are using an image that is hosted on the domain that your site is using. The TimThumb script doesn't work if you are trying to use images that are hosted from another site. In other words, your image must reside on the server that you are using. If your site is http://www.youdomain.com, then your image must start with http://www.yourdomain.com....

3. Make sure the tools/cache directory on your server is writable. The permission should be set to 777.
