One of the coolest features of the Metro theme is the ability to select either a 2-column or 3-column layout for the posts that you write. All you need to do is select which post template you would like to use on each post and once you publish it, your post will display with the template you've selected. By default, the theme will display all posts in the 2-column format.
Here's a screenshot of the Post Template selection on your WordPress write post screen:
