Default Styling Individual Widgets

Sorry if this has been asked. Honest, I've done a lot of searching for this topic on the forum as I think it's been answered. How do I reference a particular widget to give it a unique style and add an image to the background. I checked the page source and the widget ides is: text-3, if this helps explain what to do. Thanks.
