Recent Photos not creating Thumbnails

We are putting the thumb url into the custom field, (we've checked and the file is not any larger than 300kb) but we cannot get several of the thumbs to show on the recent photos. I looked through the other topics, and tried many of those fixes - including file permissions - and we are still stuck.

Help!
