Trouble with Wordpress MU and thumbnails

Hi there! I'm trying to get thumbnails to work on my Church theme, using Wordpress MU.

My host is Bluehost, and reading this thread I tried changing my file permissions of church/tools and cache to 777 and also 755 (tried both), along with timthumb.php file to 664, and no joy.

I also tried using the "real" filesystem URL to the image, not its permalink/virtual URL, as mentioned here but still no luck.

Is there something I'm missing?
