Featured Content - The Hard Way

I am having a difficult time getting images to display properly. I've watched the training video but the "easy" methods don't seem to work for me.

The method I'm using is saving the image in the post. Updating post. Going back into HTML, loading the image again, inserting 70x70 image into post, copying image link to thumbnail - undo changes in the post - update post.

Confusing as heck and having a group of writers who write for me as well - I can't have them attempt such a confusing method.

Help? Suggestions?
