Need to add "alt text" to thumbnail images home page posts

Hello.

On my site www.foxweddingplanner.com I was told to add "alt text" to the thumbnail images on my posts and the articleimg graphics on my "featured content gallery."

I know how to add this within the post images but when I try doing this in the custom fields it gets all screwy. Please advise.

This is for SEO.
