Adding twitter and Facebook links to header

You guys have created such a great CHURCH theme....Keep it up

here is my problem. I am trying to add Facebook and Twitter icons and links to the very top header area where the orange RSS and orange COMMENTS icon/links are.

what is the code to add a 16 x 16 icon of twitter and the word TWITTER (to match caps of RSS) with a link to my twitter account @freechicago and the same for facebook?
