Limit Posts Automatically

I'm new to blogging, so I appreciate your patience. I would like to limit the length of my posts on the front page. I've installed WP Limit Posts Automatically, and activated it. I've searched the edit file, but I can't figure out how to make the plugin do what it's supposed to do. If someone could give me some detailed help, I'd really appreciate it
