Number of tabs in the tabber

In the news theme, I don't see how to change the number of tabs easily. It seems like the magazine theme has a while loop that looks like:

$i = 1;
while($i < 7) 


By changing the 7, you get fewer tabs.

Unfortunately, that loop doesn't exist in my tabber.php. I have the News theme. In that tabber.php, the code for each tab repeats over and over again.

Am I missing something? Or is commenting out each section the only way to reduce the number of tabs shown?
