Angry Google Chrome issue with Timthumbs

I have posted this issue with both Timthumbs and Google so hopefully someone may finally sort it out.

I generally use chrome as it seems to work well. I have been developing a news theme based website for a client and in Chrome I noticed some of the thumbnails were not generating.

I initially played with the permissions and really broke it but after putting them back and clearing the cache folder of generated thumbs its now working some of the time again.

Now on to the issue (as I see it)

You can upload an image via wordpress and depending on whether Chrome feels like it, it will either render or not. Go back another time and suddenly an image that was not rendering will, and vica versa. Better still, go into the settings and change the size of thumb and images that were working will now not.

So I thought must be dodgy TimThumbs code, but if you right click on an non generated thumb and get it to open in a new window, it still look blank, but copy that URL and paste it into another browser and if by magic it works.

So the only thing I can think of is

a) Timthumbs is generated non standard code that other other browsers 'fix'.
b) Google chrome does not send URL's properly.
c) Google chrome does not understand the data coming back correctly causing it to 'break' sometimes.
d) there is some sort of time out issue that is causing google to give up waiting.

If there is anyone out there who has been through this and has a work round (that does not involve buying Google and making them fix it) please let me know.
