Problem with Thumb field

hello,

i´ve tried to add the custom field to a blog post to be shown on the homepage.
i created the field in the backend, called "thumb" - then i added the url of the image and updated the page - but it´s not showing up.
what am i doing wrong?

any help is greatly appreciated - this is driving me crazy
