Category Images

I would like to use category images on the front page instead of text. Currently, I do not see that option. Is it something that would feasible to add or some way to customize the current template so for example, instead of seeing the Category: Series and then a listing of the most recent posts, instead see an image that I would create. I kind of already do this with the Pastor's blog (http://www.thepeoplechurch.com) but I just used a text widget in the right column. I would like to do the same thing in the Category listings below below the featured items. The size wouldn't have to be adjusted....kinda like it the way it is for the size.

Whatever help you could provide would be appreciated.
