RSS Feeds

I've purchased the Church Theme and I'm wondering how easy it might be to add to the default 'News Feed' and 'Comments' rss feeds. It appears as though the only display a title and short description at the moment and I'd like to see if I can add the date and thumbnail image as well. Any help is greatly appreciated!
