Keywords for Blog Posts

Should keywords only be based on the content of a particular page or blog post or should keywords be picked based on the content of the entire website?

For example, I'm currently writing a blog post series on 365 Things to do in Twin Cities. I'm picking a different thing to do each day and posting it to my site to make more content.

Am I heading in the write direction by writing this content or is it unrelated to those looking to buy or sell a home?
