Search feature

Not sure if it's a theme issue or a Wordpress issue, but when people use the search feature that comes with this theme, the results load the entire pages, rather than just a short highlight of the reference for which they searched.

Is there a way to get search results to load in more of a google search style, with condensed /highlighted results rather than full pages one right after the other?
