Changing background colors

Hello everyone.
I need help, because I want to change the background colors of this theme.
Although I have read your guide, and saw your video, if I change the colors I get this error:

I tried to do in different ways, here are some examples:

body (
background: #99CC99;
width: 980px;
color: # 333333;
font-size: 12px;
font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Verdana;
margin: 0px auto 0px;
padding: 0px;
)

But unfortunately I always mistake.
Where am I wrong?
