Red face How to Modify Header and Background psd to fit with new logo.png install and footer

Hi There,
I am using the allure theme and I was wanting to add my own logo to the header (which I've done successfully ) and have the top extended side headers also be at the logo height of 150px.

The outcome I am trying to get is a gray header extension in the #878787 across each side of my logo, then my #333333 band underneath it which extends across the nav bar. Then (no gray band after this - so I want this gray underneath the near black to go and have the wrap extend up instead). Then I just want to have a simple #333333 at the footer.

I went into photo-shop and edited the .bg psd file - changed over the colors as I wanted tried to increase the height of the #878787 gray but when I have uploaded - it's turned into a repeating zebra on me!!...

See: http://fengshuimembers.com

I must admit I am MUCH BETTER at doing Feng Shui... than doing Photo shop... So would love any corrective feedback on how to achieve my goal.

Thank you so much for your help

Gayle
