I am new to the wordpress family

I purchased the magazine theme. I am new to the family and the code. All the talk about enter here and enter there and folders Im not sure i understand. Where do you find your folders? Need help. Cant get my header uploaded. have it as a png, gif, and a jpg and cant get it to show up
