Default Post Templates

I'd like to create a post with using the Full Width Page Template (page_full.php) the News theme came with.

The only problem is, there is no attributes box when editing a post to change templates, nor was there ever one. My question is, can I add the attributes box to the News theme.

I'd like to avoid upgrading wordpress for right now, even though the Custom Post Template plugin would work, I'm not prepared to back up and upgrade the site right now.

I'd much rather add lines of code to the theme in order to make an attributes box available for me and the rest of my fellow student bloggers to use in the future when editing and submitting our posts.

Erik
